Miners Solve Rawhides, 4-3

The Marquette Miners picked up a win at Marquette Stadium, knocking off the Belvedere Park Rawhides, 4-3. Starting pitcher Chiel Abspoel, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Abspoel got the win, improving to 7-6. He allowed 6 hits and walked 2 over 7.1 innings. Abspoel allowed 3 earned runs. James Neutron was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 2 save opportunities.
Steve Koch, who is tied for 10th in the 3AA in hits with 89, aided the Marquette cause with a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the designated hitter was 1-4.
In postgame remarks, Koch said: "We put it together today and came out with the win -- that's the main thing."
The Marquette Miners have an impressive 59-32 record.
