Patriots Lose to Smoke, 7-6
|
It was a fun time at Smoke Ballpark, where the Boston Patriots and Atlanta Smoke tangled.
Mario Blanco did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Boston Patriots from losing, 7-6, to the Atlanta Smoke at Smoke Ballpark. Blanco went 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Iván García, credited with the save, is now 22 for 24 in save opportunities.
The Smoke beat the Patriots in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the double Bobby Butterfield produced in the bottom of the fourth. Batting against Boston pitcher Valentín Rivera, he gave his team a 4-1 lead when he hit a bases-clearing double.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Butterfield told the Atlanta Daily.
Atlanta is now 39-40, Boston 46-33.
