Deuces Fall to Polar Bears, 5-1
|
Billings starter Noburo Oishi pitched effectively against the Virginia Beach Deuces at The Igloo. The right-hander led his team to a 5-1 win. Billings reliever Orlando Uribe got the win, raising his record to 8-1. Gabriel Herrera was tagged with the loss. The third-place Polar Bears improved to 50-29.
Late in the game, left fielder Víctor Fortis had a big at-bat for Billings. In the bottom of the eighth, he hit a 2-run single off Lindsay Novak. The play gave the Polar Bears a 3-1 lead.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Oishi told the Billings Observer.
