Miners Rally For Late Win Over Polar Bears
|
Marquette beat Billings on the strength of starter José Macías's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 2-1 win. Macías went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 0, and struck out 4. His record improves to 10-2. Félix Santiago closed the game out for Marquette, earning his 19th save.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Vicente Castaneda came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Billings pitcher Bryan Tuff, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Marquette on top, 2-1.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Marquette skipper . "I can't complain."
Marquette now sits in second place in the Menard's AA at 50-28.
