Shooters Lose Late, 4-3
|
The Springfield Shooters got a superb performance from pitcher César Albó. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Atlantic City. The Sonics won the game, 4-3. In spite of the loss, Albó was named the player of the game. He threw 8 innings of 5-hit ball. Atlantic City reliever Phil Durán picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Ieyoshi Asai was saddled with the loss. Kenny Powers got credit for the save for Atlantic City. It was his 21st of the year.
One significant at-bat for Atlantic City came with runners on 1st and 2nd in the top of the ninth. The hitter, Eddie McDoom, hit a single, which helped the Sonics go on to win.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," McDoom said.
At 42-35, the Sonics are currently 5th in the Menard's AA.
