Herons Turn Back Virginia Beach, 3-2

The Virginia Beach Deuces got a superb performance from pitcher Miguel López. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Glendale. The Herons won the game, 3-2. In spite of the loss, López was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. Yoriyoshi Yoshimura picked up the win, improving his season record to 7-3. He struck out 4 in 6 innings. Nick Riviera earned the save for Glendale, his 10th of the year.
Álex Cordero had a clutch at-bat with one out in the top of the seventh for the Herons. Coming up with a runner on 1st and Glendale trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run home run.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Virginia Beach skipper Yoshifumi Kamuta, "and it cost us."
Glendale goes to 37-28, Virginia Beach to 47-18.
