Sonics Prevail, 7-3, Over Marquette
|
The Atlantic City Sonics topped the Marquette Miners by the score of 7-3, with the largest share of the credit going to first baseman Dam Son. Son was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Sonics. Atlantic City reliever David Sherratt was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Félix Santiago took the loss for Marquette. Their 29-24 record puts the Sonics 6th in the Menard's AA.
Phil Moore had the most critical at-bat for Atlantic City, coming in the top of the ninth inning with two out and a runner on 1st. Moore hit a first pitch cutter from Félix Santiago for a run-scoring double. It put Atlantic City in front, 4-3.
Marquette manager said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
