Pineda Delivers Clutch At-Bat for Long Island in Walk-Off Win
|
Virginia Beach pitcher Miguel López gave the Seawolves all they could handle, but in the end, Long Island left Ballpark of Remsen with a 3-2 win. López allowed 2 earned runs on 4 hits over 8 innings. Long Island reliever Juan Rodríguez picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. César Galló shouldered the loss. The Seawolves now have a record of 17-34 with the win over Virginia Beach.
Fernando Pineda was the walk-off hero for Long Island. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, the Long Island pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
After the game, Long Island manager Matt Helsley applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
