In a close game at Heron Field, the Virginia Beach Deuces edged the Glendale Herons, 5-3. Virginia Beach left fielder Andrew Crosby earned the nod as player of the game after he was 4-5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Ralph Haggerty was the winner. Over 7.1 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, with no walks and 5 strikeouts. Aurelio Ornelas finished to wrap up his 1st save.
In the top of the second, Carlos Pérez hit a 2-run home run for Virginia Beach. The 3rd home run of the season for the Virginia Beach catcher put the Deuces on top, 2-0.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Virginia Beach manager Yoshifumi Kamuta.
Virginia Beach is 34-13 and Glendale, with the loss, 27-20.
