Miners Turn Back Ottawa, 10-5
|
Marquette beat Ottawa at Marquette Stadium, eking out a 10-5 win. The win was due in large part to right fielder Edgar Balerio, who earned player of the game honors. Marquette is 20-14 and Ottawa, with the loss, 11-23.
Early in the game, second baseman Vicente Castaneda had a run-scoring single for Marquette. It was his 26th hit of the season and put the Miners on top, 3-2.
"Credit where credit is due," said Balerio, "this was a team win."
