Express Knock Off Atlanta at Platform 9 3/4
|
The Wizarding Express knocked off the Atlanta Smoke, 6-4, at Platform 9 3/4. António Martínez, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Wizarding won. The third baseman was 2 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Ralph McKinney picked up the win with 5.1 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 9 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 8-1. Wizarding has now won 5 straight, while the Smoke have lost 3 in a row.
Joliet, Illinois-born Nathan Tanner came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st and the Express trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run home run to right-center to put Wizarding on top.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Wizarding manager Dan Cahill.
