Seawolves Lose Again, 6-1
|
The Marquette Miners went home winners at Ballpark of Remsen, thanks in large part to starter Enrique Castro. Castro silenced the Long Island Seawolves, enabling Marquette to grab the 6-1 win. Castro, now 2-1, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. Long Island, at 1-11, is off to a poor start in 2028.
Tied up with the Seawolves in the top of the fifth, the Miners got a boost from second baseman Vicente Castaneda. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Castaneda saw a 2-2 slider from Min-gook Chong and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Marquette on top, 2-1.
"We're our own worst enemy right now," said Long Island skipper Matt Helsley.
