The Ottawa Nationals dealt the Glendale Herons a 5-2 loss at Heron Field. Tristan Shanks was the star on offense. He was 3-4 with 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI. Leão Barro picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Yoriyoshi Yoshimura was tagged with the loss. The Glendale Herons, now 6-6, continue their sluggish start.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the fifth, with the game tied, Juan Román was at the plate when Ottawa scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Nationals to go in front, 3-2.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Ottawa Nationals manager Ezequiel Chosson. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
