Rainbow Mermaids Beat Thundercats, 6-2
|
The exploits of right fielder Ed Adams, who is rated as the 14th best prospect by BNN, helped the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids defeat the Richardson City Thundercats, 6-2. Adams went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Ilie Paunescu notched his 14th save in 14 chances. The 7th-place Rainbow Mermaids improved to 32-36.
Adams contributed a big hit, a 2-run single, for Northern Virginia in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Adams took a fastball from Jesús Gonzáles and stroked the single to center. His 31st hit of the season allowed the Rainbow Mermaids to leap in front, 2-1.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Adams.
