Evergreens Come Back Late to Clip 1837 BBC
|
The Evergreens grabbed a 5-4 win at Houston Grounds, overcoming a fine effort from Houston pitcher Edison Larson. Larson went 8 innings and allowed 1 earned run. The Evergreens improved to 61-33.
José Ruíz had the most critical at-bat for Portland, coming in the top of the ninth inning with one out and runners on 1st and 2nd. Ruíz hit a first pitch cutter from Ash Wooden for a 3-run home run. It put Portland in front, 5-4.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Ruíz said.
