Rainbow Mermaids Lose to Thundercats, 9-1
|
The Richardson City Thundercats turned back the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 9-1, at The Thunder Dome. Pedro Castillo was named player of the game for his fine performance. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Héctor Alarcon earned the win for Richardson City. He lasted 8 innings, allowing 1 earned run on 7 hits, while striking out 6. With the win, he raised his record to 2-0. The 8th-place Thundercats improved to 30-37.
With Richardson City leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Castillo hit a fastball from Chris Sommer for a solo home run. It was his 14th home run of the season and put the Thundercats ahead, 2-0.
Northern Virginia manager David Lenlister called the blowout loss "ugly."
