Dutchmen Win in 13
|
The New Amsterdam Dutchmen picked up a win at Houston Grounds, knocking off the Houston 1837 BBC, 4-2. Starting pitcher Rusty Swanson, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. The winner was New Amsterdam reliever Glenn Butler, now 2-2. The loser was Adrian Neumann. The Dutchmen saw their record improve to 47-37.
The most important at-bat for New Amsterdam came in the top of the 13th inning, when designated hitter John Burton stroked a 0-1 slider to left for a 2-run double, putting New Amsterdam up, 4-2.
"It all depends on which version of our team shows up," said Burton. "When we put it all together, I think we're a great team."
