Coffman Spins Gem, New Amsterdam Wins
|
In a well-pitched game between the New Amsterdam Dutchmen and the Philadelphia 1776 BC, pitcher Walt Coffman was superb. The New Amsterdam left-hander was named the player of the game in New Amsterdam's 3-0 win. Glenn Butler was credited with the save for New Amsterdam, his 12th of the season. The 7th-place Dutchmen improved to 36-33.
Coffman earned the win, going 8 strong innings for New Amsterdam. The left-hander allowed just 1 hit, while striking out 7. Philadelphia 1776 hitters had little success against him.
"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Coffman. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
