Dutchmen Slip Past Houston, 5-4
|
"Getting ahead of the hitters is the key," said Spencer.
Starting pitcher J.J. Spencer pitched well enough to help the New Amsterdam Dutchmen beat the Houston 1837 BBC by the score of 5-4. New Amsterdam reliever Carlos Rosales picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Rodrigo Rangel absorbed the loss.
Late in the game, right fielder Cornelius Taitt had a big at-bat for New Amsterdam. In the bottom of the 16th, he hit a run-scoring single off Rodrigo Rangel. The play gave the Dutchmen a 5-4 lead.
"The game of baseball will test you," said Sal Gaudio, the New Amsterdam skipper. "This one tested us."
The Dutchmen own a robust 28-30 mark.
