Dutchmen, Wilder Pin Bad Loss on BC
|
Getting a good performance from shortstop Hank Wilder, the New Amsterdam Dutchmen defeated the Philadelphia 1776 BC, 11-2. Wilder went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Dutchmen. Ron Madison, credited with the win, is now 3-2. He allowed 1 run on no hits in 2.1 innings. The Dutchmen saw their win-loss record go to 21-23. At the same time, the BC fall to 25-19.
Also playing a key role was Jon Osterman. The New Amsterdam center fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth. For the game, Osterman was 2-5 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Sal Gaudio said.
