Rocks Come Up Short at Phoenix
|
Phoenix and Plymouth duked it out at Thunderbirds Stadium and the Hotspur Reserves came out victorious.
In a tight contest at Thunderbirds Stadium, the Phoenix Hotspur Reserves edged the Plymouth Rocks by the score of 9-5. The Phoenix Hotspur Reserves' center fielder Roberto Fierro, who blasted 1 home run, was named the player of the game. Edgar Capello got credit for the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 6 innings.
Fierro had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the third. On a 0-1 changeup from Armando Marrero, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Hotspur Reserves a 2-0 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Fierro.
"We swung the bats pretty good throughout the lineup," said Phoenix skipper David Márquez.
The Hotspur Reserves, with only their 1st win in 7 games, have not had much to write home about in 2028.
