Halberds Bump Off Lynx, 7-4
|
Calgary got a terrific performance from pitcher Morlack Spurgeon, but it wasn't enough to beat the Alloway Halberds. Alloway won the Lynx Stadium contest, 7-4. Spurgeon was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 5 innings allowing 2 runs. Alloway reliever Andy Perry was the winner. His record is now 1-4. Morlack Spurgeon took the loss. The save went to Kenete Daku, his 3rd this season.
Phil Sherman, the Alloway catcher, contributed a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to make the score 7-0, Halberds. For the game, Sherman was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs.
"Wish we'd had more wins to celebrate like this one," said Sherman.
The last-place Halberds are now 34-68, the Lynx 61-41.
