Battlekings Fall Short, 5-1, at Tortolita
|
Tortolita starter Ricardo DePay pitched effectively against the Naperville Battlekings at Drummers Ballpark. The right-hander led his team to a 5-1 win. DePay was the winning pitcher and moves to 6-10. He threw 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 2 walks. Mike Desmond earned the save for Tortolita, his 2nd of the year.
Also producing for Tortolita was third baseman Ed Hopkins, who stroked a 2-run double in the bottom of the first. For the game, Hopkins was 1 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"Ricardo is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Tortolita manager Roberto Valverde.
The Drummers improved to 48-51.
