Walk-Off Seals 53rd Victory for Flyers
|
Fans who congregated at Pennsauken Park were treated to extra-inning drama.
The Pennsauken Flyers beat the Sunset District Fog, 7-6, at Pennsauken Park. The win was largely due to the efforts of designated hitter Roy McFerran, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 5 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. Pennsauken is 53-45 and Sunset District, with the loss, 55-43.
When he came to bat in the bottom of the 11th, Enrique Ibarra had a chance to end it. Sunset District pitcher John Sirica had other ideas. But with one out, Ibarra hit a sacrifice fly. The Flyers had the walk-off win.
"Good win for us, tough loss for them," said McFerran.
