Port Royal beat Tortolita at Ballpark of Port Royal, escaping with a 7-3 win. The win in large part was due to center fielder Bob Daugherty, who earned player of the game honors. He went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Port Royal reliever Nam Yee Yong was the winner. His record is now 2-5. The losing pitcher was Ricardo DePay. Their 37-58 record puts the Disaster 9th in the Silver AAA.
One impactful at-bat came in the bottom of the second inning. With the bases loaded, the batter, Ricky Payton, hit a 2-run single. It made the score 2-0, Port Royal, and helped them go on to win.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Daugherty told a Port Royal Today reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
