Lake Monsters Top Battlekings to Even Record
|
Naohiro Sakai had a good game, even if his team, the Naperville Battlekings, did not. Naperville dropped a 6-5 decision to Vermont at Monster Field. Jon Shirley nailed down his 1st save. The win puts the Lake Monsters at 45-45, while the Battlekings drop to 50-40.
Vermont took a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Ray John hit a clutch 2-run home run to bring Lake Monsters fans to their feet.
In comments to the Vermont Observer, John admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
