Lake Monsters Stick Battlekings with 3-2 Loss
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters got a stellar effort from pitcher Roberto Cantú, helped Vermont score a 3-2 win over the visiting Naperville Battlekings. Cherles Gachineiro closed the game out for Vermont, earning his 25th save. The Lake Monsters go to 44-45, putting them 7th in the Silver AAA.
Zelmar Barajas's at-bat in the bottom of the sixth was significant for the Lake Monsters. Coming to the plate with runners on 1st and 3rd and Vermont leading 2-1, the third baseman hit a sacrifice fly.
Cantú told the Vermont Observer: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."
