"Getting ahead of the hitters is the key," said Bassett.

Sunset District beat Port Royal at Ballpark of Port Royal, eking out a 10-0 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Merlin Bassett, who earned player of the game honors. The first-place Fog have won 4 in a row.

Bassett allowed no earned runs on 2 hits over 8 innings for the Fog. He walked 2 and struck out 6.

In postgame remarks, Bassett said: "We put it together today and came out with the win -- that's the main thing."
