Pawnee ParksNRec starter Ronaldo Matos was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Tortolita Drummers, 2-1. Pawnee reliever Roberto Silva picked up the win to move to 1-0. Francis Cahill suffered the loss. Pawnee, at 44-41, sits in 5th place in the Silver AAA.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Pawnee trailing 1-0, Rubén Alvarado hit a cutter from Francis Cahill to right-center for a 2-run double. Just like that, the ParksNRec had a walk-off win.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Alvarado, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
