Piranhas Win in Glorious Fashion
|
Fans who came to The Tank watched the Panama City Piranhas and the Austin Rangers fight to the finish.
Austin pitcher Juan Valéncia gave the Piranhas all they could handle, but in the end, Panama City left The Tank with a 3-2 win. Valéncia allowed 2 earned runs on 6 hits over 7.1 innings. Panama City reliever Anderson O'Mara was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Gavin Blackburn.
It could have been a different outcome for Panama City, had it not been for Juan Jose Ayala, the fan favorite . Ayala contributed a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the ninth inning to put Panama City up, 3-2.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Ayala said.
The Piranhas now have a record of 36-22 with the win over Austin.
