Drummers Fall to Disaster, 7-2
|
The Port Royal Disaster got a strong performance from pitcher Bryan Boyd, who stymied the Tortolita offense en route to a 7-2 win at Drummers Ballpark. Boyd went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 4, and struck out 2. His record improves to 4-3. The 9th-place Disaster improved to 27-46.
The Disaster got a big at-bat from Nelson Abbey. For the game, Abbey went 3 for 5 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 49th hit of the season gave Port Royal a 1-0 lead.
In comments to the Port Royal Today, Abbey admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
