Lake Monsters Win at Calgary, 5-4
|
Lynx Stadium was the site of a competitive game between the Calgary Lynx and Vermont Lake Monsters.
The Vermont Lake Monsters did just enough to secure a 5-4 victory over the Calgary Lynx at Lynx Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Roberto Cantú, who captured player of the game honors. Cantú went 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 8. His record improves to 2-4. Earning his 10th save of the year was Cherles Gachineiro.
It could have been a different outcome for Vermont, had it not been for Rodrigo Velasco, the 26-year old catcher . Velasco contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Vermont up, 3-2.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Velasco.
Vermont, at 23-26, sits in 8th place in the Silver AAA.
