Lynx Get One-Run Win at Naperville
|
The Calgary Lynx topped the Naperville Battlekings, 7-2, with Juan Martínez playing a big role. Martínez was 4 for 4 with 4 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Lynx in the win. Roy Shively got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 3. Alfonso Vera picked up the save, his 3rd.
Martínez had a game-changing single in the top of the fourth. On a 2-0 fastball from Raúl Areola, he banged a 2-run single to center, giving the Lynx a 4-2 lead. It was the 17th hit of the year for Martínez.
"Enjoyed this one," Martínez told the Calgary Observer. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
Calgary, at 21-19, occupies 4th place in the Silver AAA.
