Halberds Saddle Lynx with 8-2 Loss
|
The Alloway Halberds knocked off the Calgary Lynx, 8-2, at Lynx Stadium. Jorge Flores, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Alloway won. The catcher went 3 for 5 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Alloway reliever António Muńóz picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Felipe Machado took the loss. Alloway's record now stands at 8-20, placing them last in the Silver AAA.
A defensive miscue in the top of the first could have cost the Halberds. With Alloway leading 3-0, Carlos De Jesús reached on an error by the right fielder, driving in 2 runs. In the end, Alloway was still able to win the ballgame.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Alloway Halberds manager Santiago Vargas. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
