Scott Mildren helped Salt Lake City edge Port Royal by the score of 3-2. Salt Lake City reliever Lorenzo López picked up the win to move to 1-1. Omar Casteneda suffered the loss. The win brings the Buzz to 8-11, a soft start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.

Justin MacPherson was a key contributor to the win for the Buzz. In the top of the ninth with two out, the light-hitting designated hitter stroked a single to left. He went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles.

"We put together a nice win," MacPherson said.
