Loss Extends Alloway Losing Streak
|
Fans who came to Monster Field watched the Vermont Lake Monsters and the Alloway Halberds fight to the finish.
In a close game at Monster Field, the Vermont Lake Monsters edged the Alloway Halberds, 5-4. Vermont center fielder Rafael Pueblo earned the nod as player of the game after he went 2 for 3 with a triple and a walk, while scoring 3 runs. Stewart Fleming picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 5 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 7. On the season, he is now 3-0. Jim Unknown picked up the save for Vermont, his 1st of the year.
Pueblo came through with some timely hitting for Vermont. With the score 2-0 in the bottom of the first and no one down, Pueblo hit a 3-1 fastball for a run-scoring triple. It was his 1st triple of the season -- and a big reason the Lake Monsters managed to win.
"Feels good to get the job done," Pueblo said after the game.
The win takes Vermont to 7-4.
