López goes 3-for-4 as Halberds Squeeze Past Sunset District

The Alloway Halberds put the giddy home crowd in an even more jubilant mood after beating the Sunset District Fog in the season opener at Ballpark of Alloway. Shortstop Jorge López won player of the game plaudits for Alloway. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Bob Browning picked up the win with 6.1 innings of work. He allowed no earned runs on 2 hits, while walking 8 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 1-0.
López came through with some timely hitting for Alloway. With the score 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth and two down, López hit a 1-0 fastball for a 2-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season -- and a big reason the Halberds managed to win.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Alloway manager Santiago Vargas.
