Getting a good performance from right fielder Félix Medina, the Richland Rails defeated the Minnesota Loons, 6-5. Medina was 3 for 5 with 2 doubles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Rails. Paco Manuel, credited with the win, is now 10-6. He allowed 3 runs on 8 hits in 6.2 innings. Jorge Mejía closed the door for Richland, picking up his 27th save of the year.
Wayne Saunders's at-bat in the top of the seventh was significant for the Rails. Coming to the plate with the bases loaded and Richland leading 4-3, the pinch hitter hit a 2-run single.
"I felt good up there," said Medina. "I saw the ball well."
The second-place Rails improved to 61-40.
