Fur Traders Knock Off Irving at Blue Sox Ballpark
|
The exploits of second baseman Carlos Correa helped the Tacoma Fur Traders defeat the Irving Blue Sox, 5-2. Correa went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Baruc Garibay was the winner. Over 7 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with 3 walks and 9 strikeouts. The 5th-place Fur Traders improved to 49-47.
Correa contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for Tacoma in the top of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Correa took a fastball from Morihiro Sai and stroked the double to left-center. His 6th double of the season allowed the Fur Traders to leap in front, 2-1.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Correa said.
