Rails Reel Off Another Win
|
The Richland Rails relied on the hitting of first baseman Scott Ramsey to stop the Tacoma Fur Traders, 4-3. For the game, Ramsey went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Barney Starr picked up the win, improving his season record to 7-2. He struck out 5 in 6 innings. The slumping Fur Traders have dropped 11 in a row.
Ramsey contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Richland in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Ramsey took a fastball from Baruc Garibay and stroked the home run to left. His 18th home run of the season allowed the Rails to leap in front, 2-1.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Tacoma skipper Wesley Ellis, "and it cost us."
