Hops Get One-Run Win at Lancaster
|
In a tight game between the Yakima Hops and the Lancaster Farmers, pitcher Emílio Mavarro was terrific on the mound. The Yakima left-hander was named the player of the game in Yakima's 3-1 win. The Hops improve their record to 39-29 with the win over Lancaster.
Tied up with the Farmers in the top of the fourth, the Hops got a boost from second baseman Luis Rodríguez. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Rodríguez saw a 2-2 slider from Sergio Zamora and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Yakima on top, 1-0.
Rodríguez attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
