Atoms Saddle Mermen with 5-1 Loss
|
Bethesda beat Myrtle Beach at Tennille Grounds, eking out a 5-1 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Hakan Yilmanz, who earned player of the game honors. Yilmanz got the win, improving to 6-4. He allowed 5 hits and walked 5 over 6.2 innings. Yilmanz allowed 1 earned run. Bethesda, at 31-37, sits in 9th place in the Silver AA.
Catia La Mar, Venezuela-born Carlos Soto came through in the clutch. In the top of the fifth, with the bases loaded and the Atoms trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run single to right-center to put Bethesda on top.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Bethesda skipper Ricardo Martínez.
