Rapiers Take Tight Tilt
|
The Durham Rapiers picked up a win at Hops Park, knocking off the Yakima Hops, 2-1. On the mound for Durham was right-hander Christian Harris, who played a pivotal role in the win. Harris went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 4, and struck out 4. His record improves to 5-7. Briggs Bourgeois was credited with the save for Durham, his 20th of the season.
Tied up with the Hops in the top of the fifth, the Rapiers got a boost from center fielder Dave Sienna. With a runner on 3rd, Sienna saw a full count cutter from Jorge Cruz and hit a 2-run home run to break the stalemate and put Durham on top, 2-0.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Durham manager Brody Roberts.
The Rapiers, at 38-26, lead by one game in their division.
