Loons Take Down Hops, 3-1

Brian Walker pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Yakima Hops, despite Walker's fine outing, dropped a 3-1 decision to the Minnesota Loons at Hops Park. The winner was Andrew Moody, who threw 102 pitches over 6 innings. The left-hander was charged with 1 run on 4 hits. Luis Domínguez recorded the save for Minnesota, his 2nd of the season.
In the top of the 7th, designated hitter José Mercado gave Minnesota the lead when he hit a 2-run home run. The Loons had been trailing 1-0, but the two-out home run off Yakima pitcher Brian Walker changed that -- and Minnesota went on to win.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Minnesota skipper Sandy Hampton. "I can't complain."
The 9th-place Hops have lost 4 consecutive games.
