Blue Sox Pull Back to .500 with Win over Fur Traders

Irving pitcher Willie Simmons did his part in helping his team beat the Tacoma Fur Traders, 3-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. In 6.1 innings, Simmons surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. The Blue Sox saw their win-loss record go to 26-26. At the same time, the Fur Traders fall to 31-21.
John Clayton drew 1 walk for Irving. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. That's when he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring walk off César González. It was his 10th walk of the season.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Tacoma skipper Wesley Ellis, "and it cost us."
