Blue Sox Lose to Hops in Walk Off
|
The bats were silent much of the day at Hops Park. But Marlon Webster conjured up just enough offense to carry the Hops past the Irving Blue Sox, 3-2. Webster was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 walks. Yakima reliever Billy Mays picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Carlos Hernández absorbed the loss. The Hops, now 30-18, have won 4 in a row.
In a game filled with surprises, perhaps none was as big as Webster's contribution. The Yakima third baseman is a relative newcomer. With two out in the bottom of the 11th, when the Hops had runners on 1st and 3rd, Webster delivered a crucial run-scoring single.
"Great to get the crowd on its feet," Webster said.
