Sixshooters Continue Skid, Thanks to Vega, Farmers
|
Getting a good performance from first baseman Javier Vega, the Lancaster Farmers defeated the Westwood Sixshooters, 9-3. Vega went 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Farmers. Santo Velazco, credited with the win, is now 3-4. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 6.2 innings. The 7th-place Sixshooters have dropped 4 straight games.
Vega had a game-changing home run in the top of the fourth. On a 0-1 slider from Roosevelt Guimond, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Farmers a 2-0 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Vega.
"We swung the bats pretty good throughout the lineup," said Lancaster skipper Omer van Osch.
