Irving overcame a superlative game from Mike Brandner to beat Lancaster, 6-4. The Lancaster pitcher took player of the game honors in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. Irving reliever Kenete Daku was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Seishiro Sato took the loss for Lancaster. With the victory, the Blue Sox record now stands at 23-22.

The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Sung-min Pae came to bat in the top of the 11th. Facing Lancaster pitcher Seishiro Sato, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a 2-run double. It was a game-changer, putting Irving on top, 6-4.

"The game is never over 'til it's over," said a jubilant John Parkinson, the Irving skipper.
