Farmers Come Back Late to Clip Blue Sox
|
A 4-RBI performance from Gilberto Jiménez, who is tied for 9th in the SAA in bases on balls with 19, helped the Lancaster Farmers beat the Irving Blue Sox, 4-3. Lancaster reliever Woody Hudson picked up the win, upping his record to 4-3. Morihiro Sai shouldered the loss. Raúl Nieto earned the save for Lancaster, his 8th.
The outcome might have been different had it not been for Jiménez. In the bottom of the eighth inning, when the Farmers were trailing 3-0, Jiménez delivered a two-out grand slam home run for Lancaster, giving his team the lead.
In postgame comments to the Lancaster Chronicle, Jiménez said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
With the win, Lancaster goes to 20-24, while the Blue Sox fall to 22-22.
