Mermen Top Rails to Even Record
|
The Myrtle Beach Mermen defeated the Richland Rails, 7-4, in USSL Double A action at Rails Ballpark, with Myrtle Beach pitcher Gregory Bahena named player of the game. Francisco Gonsáles picked up the save for Myrtle Beach, his 10th of the year. The 5th-place Mermen now have a win-loss record of 22-22.
Palo Negro, Venezuela-born Sixto Estrada came through in the clutch. In the top of the fifth, with the bases loaded and the Mermen trailing 2-0, he hit a grand slam home run to right to put Myrtle Beach on top.
"We did enough to win," said Bahena.
